How can LPBF on preforms be used for additive repair?
Challenge and Motivation
- Hybrid LPBF has high potential for repair applications (e.g. turbine blade tip repair).
- Several challenges need to be addressed before industrialization:
- Interfaces necessary for preform handling
- Alignment of preform and LPBF structures
- Stability of LPBF on a (cold) preform
- Constant part properties in the transition area
Objective
- Evaluating the impact of each challenge.
- Propose and evaluate a solution to each challenge.
