Challenge and Motivation
- CMC may become more relevant for use in the hot section of turbomachinery in future
- Machining of CMC is not state of the art today
- Thus, it is unknown what the most suitable and efficient machining processes are
Objective
- Compare different machining processes for realization of an individual feature by experimental analysis
- Identifying potential of improvement of each machining process by parameter studies
- Benchmarking of the machining processes (e.g. regarding material removal, surface quality, tool wear, reliability, etc.)
