Benchmarking of process chains to repair turbomachinery components

What is required to design a digital and physical efficient repair process chain?

Challenge and Motivation

  • Advanced repair processes reestablish high performance and increase component life-time.
  • Used components are in undefined geometric shape (e.g. distortion, wear, ablation) resulting in a unique and adaptive repair process chain.
  • Especially in between additive and subtractive processes data consistency is important to enable efficient processes.

Objective

  • Identification of reasons for objection at industry.
  • Benchmarking of existing repair use-cases focusing on data consistency, reasonable repair processes as well as pre-/ post-machining.
