Challenge and Motivation
- Conventional Ni- and Co-based alloys with higher strength are difficult to process via AM.
- Powder suppliers are developing high temperature superalloys designed for AM with superior properties.
Objective
- Manufacture of samples with LPBF and LMD from three advanced materials (suggested Ni-alloys: ABD 900 and AD730, 3rd alloy t.b.d.).
- Heat treatment and metallographic evaluation.
